Can you search Badoo by location?

Is People Nearby the same as search Badoo by location?

In short: Search Badoo by location does not exist as a typed city list. You cannot paste “Lisbon,” a postcode, or a GPS pin and retrieve every Badoo member there. Encounters and People Nearby are a ranked sample around your session. Distance is a filter, not a census, not a stalk pin, and not proof they are in that barrio tonight.

Badoo is large in Europe and Latin America, so “search Badoo by location” often means Mexico City / São Paulo / Madrid density. Density makes directory fantasy more tempting and more false: more people share the same city tag.

Encounters ≠ a place query

Encounters decide who is next in your stack. Nearby decides who is treated as geographically relevant. Neither is “SELECT * FROM members WHERE city = ?”.

A short distance label is a weak place signal. It can reflect GPS noise, travel, delayed updates, or a metro display. Treat miles as candidate reduction, not residence proof.

Credits buy actions (extra interest, visibility). They do not buy a map layer of every account.

Invisible mode and ranking still win

If someone uses limited visibility, sits outside mutual filters, or ranks poorly, shrinking your radius does not summon them. “I stood in their neighborhood” is not a Badoo API.

Same for Travel-style browsing: moving your center changes your sample. It does not create a searchable roll of that city.
