How to Tell If a Hinge Profile Is Active

In short: You rarely get a perfect “last online” clock as a stranger on Hinge. Active vs inactive is inferred from Discover visibility, Pause, prompts/photos freshness cues (weak), and, carefully, multi-app match signals. Absence from your deck is not deletion proof.
Active, paused, deleted, three different states
| State | What it usually means |
|---|---|
| Active | Account exists; may appear in Discover for matching prefs |
| Paused | Hidden from new people; account still there |
| Deleted | Account removed; may still exist as residual data elsewhere briefly |
Mixing these states causes false conclusions.
Signals inside Hinge (limited)
What you might notice when you already see a card:
- Profile still appears while your filters match
- New photos or prompt edits (subjective, not a clock)
- Match / message activity if you already connected
What you do not reliably get:
- A public last-login for any user you name
- Proof they opened the app today
- Confirmation of Pause vs deletion from outside
Why “I never see them” is weak evidence
They may be:
- On Pause
- Outside your age / distance / dealbreakers
- Using preferences that exclude you
- Simply not in your Discover sample that week

Off-app approach (without their password)
- Confirm identifiers (name, age, city)
- Note last known photos
- Run a private multi-app search
